GO-BAR

Dog Food Supplement. Quick energy restoration for performance dogs, a source of readily digestible carbohydrates for dogs.

GO-BAR is composed of more readily available carbohydrates (sugars, dextrins, and starches) than regular dog food to "meter" glucose into the blood for quicker glycogen restoration. GO-BAR is not intended to replace the dog’s food, but GO-BAR is to be fed as a supplement to help dogs top off their glycogen tank faster.

Carbohydrate loading (fasting followed by heavy carbohydrate ingestion for 2-3 days before racing), which is common in human racers, is not considered to be an effective practice in dogs. Providing highly digestible carbohydrates shortly after the work period is said to be the better approach.

The difference between supplementing with GO-BAR, is the rate of providing glucose for glycogen replacement. "Topping off" the glycogen stores more quickly allows the dog to go again sooner.
